The Franklin Club is “Fishing at its Finest”. We have 3 bodies of water on our 200-acre property; 22 acre Franklin Lake, and the 2 adjoining ponds, Harrison Pond and Douglass Pond.
Members and their guests fly fish, spin cast or ice fish at their convenience, 365 days a year. These waters are stocked by our very own private hatchery, which provides superb Rainbow and Speckled Trout.
The Franklin Club is located within the Lake Simcoe watershed and is protected in the Oak Ridges Moraine. This location, combined with our natural springs, provides the ideal water source for the breeding and raising of our Rainbow and Speckled Trout. Due to our limited number of memberships, we ensure exclusive access for members to fish at their leisure in a quiet and private environment.
Located close to where our members live and work, escape to private fishing waters for a morning, afternoon, day, or for a weekend. Fishing opportunities are on one of our numerous casting platforms, from the shore, or on one of our many boats. In the winter, you may fish onshore or in ice huts, warmed and ready to use at your arrival.
The Hatchery
The Franklin Club has one of the largest trout hatcheries in Canada. We raise Rainbow & Speckled Trout and typically have over 100,000 fish in our system. We aim to stock our Lake and Ponds with a minimum of 10,000 fish per year. While in our hatchery, the fish are fed a special blend of food that enhances flavour and practices the best animal husbandry that we can.
Our Club Pros
Like a golf club, the Franklin Club has a staff of Club Pros who, over the course of the year, provide fly fishing/ fly tying instruction, Fly Fishing 101, Kid’s Learn to Fish, seminars and more. Our Club Pros are also available for semi-private and private bookings for members and non-members. The Franklin Club is committed to the finest professional onsite training and informative workshops, with The Franklin Club Pros, as well as online access to communicate with other members and pros to share observations, techniques and information.

Fly Tying Group
Started in 1992 by long time Member Jim Purcell, the Fly Tying Group has become a great venue for beginners and proficient tyers alike to learn and expand on their knowledge of the art of Fly Tying. The group enjoys a weekly social evening at the club with other members interested in tying flies, and often meet for dinner prior to the classes. Guest tyers are invited regularly.
